SIMULATING THE AGRI-NUTRITION
SIMULATING THE AGRI-NUTRITION SECTOR THROUGH A CUSTOMER
The training participants were recruited from GAIN’s Community of Practice group following a call for interested trainees. The training materials were reviewed and validated by AIAR and a training schedule developed and approved. Four groups were formed from 18 participants, to represent Agri-nutrition businesses that would be competing against each other during the three-day’s training.
As stipulated by Mohajan (2014), malnutrition is a great public health problem in Kenya with more than 10 million people being chronically food insecure. This is the single greatest contributor to child mortality at 53%, while the main causes of malnutrition among women of reproductive age are sub-optimal feeding practices especially during pregnancy, heavy Workload, and low micro-nutrient intake.
